The fireplace stands beyond the pool, framed by flowers and trees. From the opposite terrace, its reflection shares the water with the surrounding planting. Artistic Landscapes uses that long view to connect a swimming area with a separate place to sit by the fire.

The pool's curving edge contrasts with the vertical chimney and the pitched roof of the nearby pavilion. Those different forms are held together by stonework and planted borders. Each feature has a clear role without needing to occupy the center of the garden.

Giving the water a destination

The hearth is positioned where it can be seen from across the pool. Its broad base relates to the terrace, while the chimney rises high enough to register against the wooded background. The result gives the swimming area a focal point beyond the water itself.

Planting is concentrated around the stonework rather than spread evenly across every edge. Bright flowers draw attention to the raised terrace; darker foliage and tree trunks give the setting depth behind it. The pool remains open enough to reflect those layers.

The garden after dark

In the evening views, the pavilion becomes another point of light. Its roof gives the seating a recognizable outline, while illumination around the pool describes the water's curves. The trees remain a darker enclosure beyond the built spaces.

The difference between daytime and evening is part of the project's interest. By day, planting and stone establish the garden's texture. Later, the pool, hearth and sheltered room become the more prominent elements. The layout works at both scales: as a sequence of places to occupy and as a view enjoyed from the other side of the water.

At home

Place major features where they can be enjoyed from across the garden, not only from the seat beside them.
